Checking Criminal History in Greenup

The first 50 pages are free. Page 51 and later cost $0.15 each. Certification costs $1 per document. Certified mail adds $2.80 plus postage, and Greenup requires prepayment. These precise village charges should not be confused with the county Sheriff's unpublished local fee schedule.
Greenup generally has five business days for a noncommercial response, with a written statutory extension when needed. A response may produce, deny with exemptions, seek clarification, or explain added time.

Greenup National Road History
Greenup had 1,343 residents in the 2020 Census. It stands at I-70 Exit 119 near Illinois 121 and 130 and U.S. 40. The National Road business district is known for overhanging porches and antique shops, while the one-lane Jackson covered bridge crosses the Embarras River.

Greenup was platted in 1834, incorporated in 1843, and served as the first county seat before Toledo.
Writing Greenup Record Descriptions
The Greenup form specifically asks the requester to identify both the department and the records. Write “Greenup Police Department” when the event was a village police response. Add the event date or range, address or intersection, involved names, report number if known, and the exact record type. Choose Examine, Copy, or both. If copies should arrive by mail, mark that choice and supply a complete address. Staff need not create a report, answer questions, or compile facts that do not already exist in a public record.
A narrow description helps Greenup separate public arrest facts from a larger investigative file. Sending each request to the office that made the record avoids delay and prevents a Greenup response from being mistaken for a complete account of the case.
Greenup Court Outcome Search
A Greenup police arrest charge is an allegation. Prosecutors may file a different charge, decline filing, or proceed after a delay. The Cumberland Circuit Court docket is the source for the filed complaint or information, appearances, pleas, motions, orders, disposition, and sentence. Court supervision is not the same as a conviction. A dismissal or acquittal is not guilt. Compare the police report with the final docket rather than reading one as a substitute for the other.

Weekday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Provide a full name, approximate filing or arrest date, type of case, and case number if known. Ask about current copy and certification charges because no current Cumberland criminal-copy schedule was found.
Do not rely on Judici as a Greenup name search. The live Cumberland endpoint says the county is not available. The clerk does use Judici and CourtMoney as payment routes after a balance and case number are known. A payment route does not expose the docket. re:SearchIL can be another lead after registration, but remote public access can show less than the courthouse record.
Greenup Data Needs Context
Greenup's population figure is tied to the 2020 Census and should be labeled that way. Current crime counts need a second check. The ISP Crime in Illinois archive and FBI Crime Data Explorer are official sources, yet a missing or incomplete agency-year row does not mean that Greenup had no offenses. Before quoting a number, confirm agency participation, reporting year, offense definition, and completeness.
The village's National Road setting also affects record custody. Greenup Police handles events within its active jurisdiction, Cumberland Sheriff handles unincorporated areas, and ISP may investigate highway incidents. A location near U.S. 40, Illinois 121 or 130 does not by itself establish the investigating agency. Look at the report or citation, then use the contact named there.
Historical research has a hard county boundary. A courthouse fire on November 5, 1885 caused total loss of Cumberland County records. Greenup's earlier county-seat role does not mean surviving court books remain at the village office. Ask the Circuit Clerk about later archives and follow an Illinois Regional Archives Depository referral for records held there.
